Hiking Trail in Singapore

Trekking, walking or hiking is a simple form of exercise. It is a common exercise for Mr Teddy and I. Not only that it helps to burn fats, it helps us to distress as well. We prefer places which are more tranquil and quiet so as to have the "get out of town" feel. Singapore being a small and bustling city, you will be surprised that there are quite a number of hiking place which gives the tranquil feeling.


1. Mount Faber Park

Mount Faber Park is one of the oldest parks in Singapore. It is also one of the popular tourist attraction as well. Mount Faber Park is part of the Southern Ridges, which also comprises Telok Blangah Hill Park, HortPark, Kent Ridge Park and Labrador Nature Reserve. The park also provide cable car service to Sentosa. 
You can start from the foot of Mount Faber on Telok Blangah Road, hike up its narrow eponymous road past Faber Lodge. The hilly terrain at Mount Faber Park and seamless connection to the Southern Ridges make it an ideal place for a good workout. 


2. The Southern Ridges

The Sounthern Ridges is a 10 km of green and it connected to Mount Faber Park, Telok Blangah Hill Park, HortPark, Kent Ridge Park and Labrador Nature Reserve. You walk among the trees to observe a wide variety of flora and fauna in their natural habitat. The Southern Ridges is one of the best park to enjoy the panoramic view of the city and harbor. At The Southern Ridges, you will be able to explore the Marang Trail, Henderson Wave and Forest Walk.







3. Dairy Farm Nature Park

Dairy Farm Nature Park has a more rustic feel. The 63 hectares park offers multiple trails for trekking and cycling. Wallace Education Center is the main attraction in the park where schools will hold field study hub.

Singapore Quarry which lies at the south-western end of the park is a wetland habitat with a viewing platform for visitors to appreciate Singapore’s freshwater flora and fauna. At the part you can trek the Wallace Trail (ideal for nature lovers and bird enthusiasts) or try the Mountain Biking Trail if you are a good cyclist.

4. Bukit Timah Nature Reserve

Bukit Timah Nature Reserve has undergone restoration work since September 2014. It has been completed in October 2016 and is re-open to public. Bukit Timah Nature Reserve restoration work include restoration of hiking trail, added intermediate steps to more challenging routes, slope stabilization and repairing work for trail from Summit Path.

Bukit Timah Nature Reserve has the Singapore’s highest hill, Bukit Timah Hill which is suitable for hiking or trekking. If you are good with cycling, you may try out the Bukit Timah Mountain Bike Trail.



5. Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve

Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve is a nature reserve in the northwest area of Singapore. It is a idea park for bird watching. Usually from September to March, Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve mudflats functions as a "refuelling point" for the waders to feed and roost. You may look out for birds such as herons, kingfishers, bitterns, sunbirds etc.

Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve is a great place for hiking, nature walk and photography as well.
