My family and I book a private day trip to tour around Penang. The tour guide who is also the driver, is friendly and provide a lot of recommendations. We set off from G Hotel Gurney at about 9 a.m.
The day tour which we have booked is to visit the Penang Hill and Temples.
Kek Lok Si Temple:
The temple is one of the largest temple in South East Asia. The pagodas, pavillion, god of mercy etc has attracted million of tourist to the temple till date.
Wat Chaiya Mangkalaram:
The is a Thai temple which was build in 1845. This temple is well-known for its 108ft long reclining Buddha. The temple is grand. It is definitely worth visiting.
Penang Hill:
I would say that if this is your first time visiting Penang, you should visit Penang Hill. Penang Hill was the first colonial hill station developed in Peninsular Malaysia. The most popular and easiest way of getting up to the top of the hill is via the Penang Hill Railway. You get to see all the greenery along the way as it cut through the forest. Right at the top of the hill, it gives you a panorama view of Penang. It is breathtaking and worth the visit for sure.
Street Art in GeorgeTown:
Along the way back to the hotel, the driver also brought us to Georgetown to visit the Street Art.
The friendly driver also introduce us to the famous local delicacy such as Penang Chay Kway Teow. I am not too sure what is the name of the store. It was located along Lorong Selamat. It is famous authentic local street food. It is the best Penang Chay Kway Teow I had till date. You may ask the taxi driver or the hotel staff, and I am sure they will know the store.
Another dessert highly recommended by my driver is the Penang coconut jelly. It is the best dessert for such a hot weather. It is located at 201, Jalan Dato Keramat, George Town, 10000 George Town, Pulau Pinang, Malaysia.
