For this trip, not much planning was done at all. We do not know what to expect out of this trip, but we definitely know what we do not want. For sure, we do not want crowd. Thus, we decided to choose any other area other than staying at Patong (the more happening area with lots of pubs, shopping, massage etc.).
We looked through the available hotel/resorts for our travelling period in Agoda and we happened to saw Serenity Resort & Residences Phuket. A five star resort's suite was going at SGD $384 for two nights. The review was good and most importantly, the price was a good catch. Thus, we book it. And yes, the resort is not at Patong. It is situated at Rawai. About 1 hour car ride from airport with smooth traffic.
If you are a shopping queen, Rawai will not suits you. There isn't any shopping mall nearby nor much cafe near (walking distance) the resort. People who stay there usually order room service and laze around the beach or pool side. It is really relaxing to do nothing, but just read book and enjoy the breeze. The beach is just right in front of the resort. However, I would not recommend to swim as there's too much of rocks. Not a perfect sea for swimming.
The next thing which came to our surprise is the Rawai Seafood Market. It opens daily from 3/4pm till late in the night. Need to take a 5-10 minutes taxi ride from the resort to the seafood market. The fare was THB$200, one way trip. There were quite a numbers of live seafood stalls. All the stalls sell almost the same seafood (Lobster, crab, fish, squid, crayfish, prawn etc). Mr Teddy loves to buy fishes and seafood. He enjoy it and leaving me walking behind him. After buying our seafood, we went to one of the seafood restaurant and got them to cook for us. The cooking fee is cheap, THB 100 every 1 kg.
I am not a seafood lover originally. However, after this trip, I fall in love with lobster. The lobster was so fresh, tender and juicy. It's yummy. It is a must try dishes should you go to Rawai Seafood Market. The total price was quite reasonable. We spend about SGD$110 for two lobsters, live prawn and fish. In comparative to Singapore, i would said it is much cheaper. And of course it's the fun and experience you can't find it in Singapore.
We will definitely go again just for the seafood.
